Toivottavasti jokaisen kevät on lähtenyt mukavasti liikenteeseen. Viime vuosi oli meille uusille Artesaani- ja Taidekujavastaaville hyvin oppia täyteinen ja tämän perusteella haluamme kokeilla jotain uutta tänä vuonna! Tuumailutuokioiden jälkeen olemme päättäneet tuoda kaikki taiteilijat ja artesaanit tasosta riippumatta samaan paikkaan sekoittaen pakkaa täysin. Sillä tämän vuoden Kotae Expossa tuomme Taidekortteli-konseptin tapahtumaamme ja siirrämme sen D-halliin pois esiintymislavan läheisyydestä!

Mikä Taidekortteli siis on?

Taidekortteli on taidekujan ja artesaanialueen yhdistymä, johon jokainen taiteilija tasosta riippumatta voi hakea. Olitpa sitten ensimmäistä kertaa kujaileva tai jo kokenut konkari, olet enemmän kuin tervetullut hakemaan Kotae Expon uudelle Taidekorttelille. Tarkoituksena on tarjota teille kolme (3) erilaista pöytävaihtoehtoa: S, M ja L, joista voitte omien tarpeidenne mukaan valita haluamanne koon.

Taidekortteli on tarkoitettu omaa taidettaan tai käsitöitään myyville taitelijoille. Tuotteet voivat olla mm. printtejä, tarroja, kirjoja, zineja, pelejä, pinssejä, koruja, figuureja, käsitöitä tai muita taidonnäytteitä. Olennaista on kuitenkin, että ne ovat hakijan suunnittelemia ja toteuttamia. Taiteilija voi tilata tuotteensa valmistajalta.

Tuotteiden aihepiiri on vapaa. Kotae Expo on koko perheen tapahtuma, ja sen teemoihin kuuluvat japanilainen ja korealainen populaarikulttuuri, joten suosittelemme myytävien tuotteiden sopivan näihin teemoihin. Tämä ei ole kuitenkaan pakollista, sillä tuotteiden monipuolisuus on aina rikkaus. Myös originaaliteokset ja fanitaide sopivat erinomaisesti Taidekortteliin.

Kuinka haen Taidekortteliin?

Taidekortteliin haetaan portfoliohaulla sähköisen lomakkeen kautta. Haluamme näin varmistaa myyntiartikkelien sopivuuden tapahtumaamme.

Emme kuitenkaan tee suurempia muutoksia portfoliohakuun, sillä mielestämme se toimi viimeksi oikein hyvin. Voitte siis jo aloittaa hiljalleen kokoamaan portfoliotanne tulevaa Taidekortteli-hakua varten. Muutamia tärkeitä poimintoja haluamme jo ohjeistaa teille, jotta materiaalin kokoaminen olisi helpompaa:

• Portfolion enimmäiskuvamäärä poistuu ja tilalle tulee 10 sivun enimmäissivuraja. Tämä tarkoittaa, että voit nyt lisätä portfolioon helposti erilaisia kuvakollaaseja tuoteryhmistä, fandomeista, taiteestasi tai muusta vastaavasta. Huomioithan kuitenkin kuvien koon ja portfolion luettavuuden.
• Jos yhden pöytäpaikan on varaamassa useampi myyjä yhdessä, tulee teidän tehdä yksi (1) portfolio, johon on sisällytetty jokaisen teokset. Yhteisen portfolion enimmäissivuraja on 15 sivua.
• Portfolion tulee olla PDF-tiedostona. Jos saamme portfolioita, jotka on tehty muussa muodossa, ne hylätään automaattisesti.
• Taiteilijan tulee olla täyttänyt 15 vuotta tapahtumaan mennessä.
• Kotae Expon Taidekorttelilla ei saa myydä mitään tekoälyllä luotua tai suunniteltua taidetta.
• Jos sinulla ei ole esittää valmiita tuotteita, voit silti hakea Taidekortteliin. Tällöin voit esitellä portfoliossasi valmiita digitaalisia teoksia ja kertoa kuvatekstissä, millaisia tuotteita aiot teostesi pohjalta myydä.
• Muistattehan, että Kotae Expo on ikärajaton ja kaikenikäisille tarkoitettu tapahtuma, joten aikuisille suunnattu materiaali tulee pitää omassa erillisessä kansiossa. K-18-materiaalia ovat muun muassa tuotteet, jotka sisältävät seksuaalista, liian rajua tai väkivaltaista sisältöä. Nämä saa antaa asiakkaan katsottavaksi vasta, kun hänen ikänsä on tarkistettu. Taiteilijan vastuulla on valvoa, etteivät alaikäiset pääse selaamaan K-18-materiaalia. Taiteellinen alastomuus sallitaan, mutta esimerkiksi paljaat rinnat sekä genitaalit tulee sensuroida. Jos teille herää yhtään epävarmuutta jonkin teoksen sopivuudesta, laittakaa rohkeasti viestiä meille Taidekorttelin vastaaville taidekortteli[at]kotae.fi, niin katsomme tilanteen!
• Taidekorttelissa saa myydä vain omia tuotoksiaan, eivätkä erilaiset valmiista aineistoista luodut kollaasit tai suorat kopiot ja läpipiirretyt kuvat ole sallittuja. Teosten on oltava taiteilijan itse suunnittelemia ja toteuttamia.

Lisää sääntöjä, tarkennuksia ja portfolion ohjeistuksia tulette saamaan hieman ennen haun avautumista.

Introducing the new Art Block!

We hope everyone’s spring has started well. Last year was full of learning for us, new Artisan and Artist Alley managers, and this year, we want to try something new! After a few moments of deliberation, we have decided to bring all artists and artisans, regardless of level, to the same place and completely shuffle the deck. Thus, at this year’s Kotae Expo, we are bringing Taidekortteli (Art Block) concept to our event!

So what is Art Block?

The Art Block will be a combination of the Art Alley and the Artisan area, where every artist, regardless of level, can apply. Whether you are a first-timer or an experienced veteran, you are more than welcome to apply to the new Kotae Expo Art Block. The intention is to offer three (3) different table options – S, M, and L, from which you can choose the size you want according to your own needs.

Art Block is intended for artists selling their own art or crafts. Products may include prints, stickers, books, zines, games, pins, jewelry, figurines, handicrafts, or other examples of artistic work. However, it is essential that they are designed and created by the applicant. An artist may, however, order their products from a manufacturer.

The subject matter of the products is not restricted. Kotae Expo is an event for the whole family, and its themes include Japanese and Korean popular culture, so we recommend that the products you will sell are suitable for these themes. This is not mandatory, however, as diversity in products is always a strength. Original works and fan art are also suitable for Art Block.

How to apply for Art Block?

Applications to Art Block are submitted via an online form as part of the portfolio review process. Through this process, we aim to ensure that the items for sale are suitable for our event.

We will not be making any major changes to our portfolio guidelines because, in our opinion, this has worked really well for us. So you can already slowly start preparing your portfolio for the upcoming Art Block application. We would like to give you some important tips to make the process easier:

• The maximum limit on the number of images in a portfolio will be removed and replaced with a 10-page limit. This means you can now easily add various image collages to your portfolio, whether they’re of product categories, fandoms, your art, or anything else. Please keep in mind the size of the images and the readability of your portfolio.
• If multiple exhibitors are reserving a single table spot together, they must create a single (1) portfolio that includes everyone’s work. The maximum page limit for a shared portfolio is 15 pages.
• The portfolio must be a PDF file. If we receive portfolios created in any other format, they will be automatically rejected.
• The exhibitor must be 15 years old by the time of the event.
• No art created or designed with artificial intelligence may be sold at Kotae Expo’s Art Block.
• If you don’t have finished products to showcase, you can still apply to the Art Block. In this case, you can present completed digital artworks in your portfolio and use the captions to explain what kind of products you plan to sell based on these pieces.
• Please remember that Kotae Expo is an event open to all ages, so adult-oriented material must be kept in its own separate folder. Adult (18+) material includes products that contain sexually explicit, overly graphic, or violent content. These can only be made available to customers after age verification. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure that minors DO NOT browse 18+ material. Artistic nudity is allowed, but bare breasts and genitals, for example, must be censored. If you have any doubts about whether a certain piece is appropriate, please don’t hesitate to contact us in charge of the Art Block at taidekortteli[at]kotae.fi, and we will look into the situation!
• At Art Block, you may only sell your own products, and collages created from pre-existing materials, direct copies, and traced images are strictly prohibited. The works must be designed and created by the artists themselves.

You will receive more rules, clarifications, and portfolio guidelines shortly before the applications open.
