AI at Kotae Expo
Event AI Policy
The use of generative AI in programme content and in the production of products sold at Kotae Expo is prohibited.
As an event, we do not support the use of generative AI as a replacement for the creative process. We encourage everyone participating in the event to create, for example, their products and presentation materials themselves, without generative AI. The use of smart tools in editing software that assist with the creative process, such as tools for image editing, is permitted. Please read the clarifications below for more information.
Below, we have defined the differences between generative AI and AI-powered tools, as well as where Kotae Expo draws the line when it comes to their use.
Kotae Expo’s Definition of Generative AI
(In the rest of this text, we will refer to generative AI simply as “AI”.)
- Software that replaces the creative process, such as Midjourney, Banana, ChatGPT, Gemini, Canva’s image generator or other similar software, where the user provides a prompt and the software creates an image, other material, an audio track and/or text from start to finish without the user’s own creative input. In everyday language, such material is often referred to as “AI slop”.
- The use of text-generating AI (Large Language Models) is considered the use of generative AI when the core content of the work is based on text generated by AI. This applies, for example, to lecture scripts, dialogue for plays, presentation texts or song lyrics created using AI.
Kotae Expo’s AI policy does not apply to image, video or audio editing tools that are already built into software, such as generative fill, object removal, noise reduction and other similar tools that support creative work. Such tools are used, for example, in Adobe products, where avoiding the use of built-in tools may be difficult or impossible. These tools do not replace the creator’s own creative process, and the final result can be adjusted by the user. AI may be used as a brainstorming tool at your own discretion. However, AI must not replace the creative process, and the final result must reflect the creator’s own work. This includes, for example, bouncing ideas around, compiling large amounts of data or proofreading. We encourage transparency regarding the use of all smart tools.
By applying to participate in the event, you agree to these rules and terms, which apply to programme content and the sales area. If any violations occur, we will address them on a case-by-case basis. Kotae Expo reserves the right to determine any consequences in cases where the use of AI is suspected. In extreme cases, a violation may result, for example, in denial of entry or the interruption of a programme item. If you suspect that AI has been used in violation of these rules, we ask visitors to report their observations primarily to the relevant event staff during the event using our reporting form, so that we can address the situation as quickly as possible.
The reporting form will be published closer to the event.
